AmTrust, Berkshire Move Up Again in Market Share Ranking

Growth in workers’ comp direct written premiums slowed in 2016, a year that saw AmTrust and Berkshire Hathaway continue their climb up the market share ranking, according to a report from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Direct premiums written totaled $58.2 billion in 2016, a 1.8% increase from the previous year. In 2015, net written premiums grew to $57.2 billion, 4.2% higher than the $54.9 billion in 2014.
