Starting this week, workers who lose fingers, toes, hands or feet in a work accident will see improved benefits for the first time in years, after New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy signed the long-awaited “hand-foot” bill into law.
Senate Bill 782, which increases benefits and duration of benefits for amputations, took effect immediately upon the governor's signature. A similar bill was vetoed in 2011 by Murphy's Republican predecessor and had failed to see progress in the Legislature again until last year.
