A federal judge approved a request to allow Daniel Capen to spend two weeks celebrating his 70th birthday in the United Kingdom while he awaits sentencing for accepting kickbacks to refer patients to, and perform surgeries at, Pacific Hospital of Long Beach.
U.S. District Court Judge Josephine Staton on Aug. 27 ordered the pretrial services office to return Capen’s passport so he can travel to the U.K. for up to 14 days from Sept. 27 through Oct. 17. The motion requesting permission to travel says Capen would like to spend the time his family to celebrate his birthday.
