The unions representing players from the National Basketball Association, National Football League, Major League Baseball and National Hockey League have hired a team of lobbyists to fight legislation that would end workers' compensation disability benefits at age 35 for professional athletes in Illinois.
The players' unions retained Washington, D.C., firm The Signal Group and Chicago firm Nicolay & Dart to try to prevent a provision of Senate Bill 12 from passing, The Sports Network reported.
