Report: LAPD Can't Track Number of Workers Out with Injuries

Los Angeles Police Department employees filed 3,602 workers' compensation claims last year, but efforts to evaluate those injuries and others are being thwarted by the lack of data, according to a report presented to the Board of Police Commissioners. Alexander A. Bustamante, the commission's inspector general, was trying to identify risk management issues within the department following a March 2015 report by the city controller finding 60% of all police officers have filed at least one workers' compensation claim and 42% have filed two or more claims.
