The Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission closed its headquarters in Richmond on Tuesday for cleaning and disinfection after an agency employee exhibited symptoms of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.
Although the commission clerk’s office is closed, parties can file documents by fax or WebFile. Filing deadlines for any document that must be filed with the commission during the period the clerk’s office is closed is extended to the next business day on which the office is open.
The commission said its customer contact center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Agency employees are teleworking to continue as many business operations as possible.
The commission also said it is working with stakeholders to accommodate upcoming hearing and mediation schedules.
