UPS Wins New Trial After $6 Million Verdict in Discharge Case

United Parcel Services Inc. is entitled to a new trial against a retaliatory discharge suit that brought a $6 million verdict against the company because the trial court improperly allowed testimony about how the employer allegedly fabricated evidence to terminate claimants, an appellate court ruled. Former UPS driver John Thigpen appeared to have prevailed in his retaliatory discharge suit at the Broward County Circuit Court until the employer filed a motion for a new trial.
