Kushnir, who joined Ameritrust in February, previously was chief actuary with Amtrust Financial Services and was an actuary at Travelers in the late 1990s.

He will now oversee  reserving, pricing, loss-ratio forecasting and reinsurance analysis for Ameritrust, the company said in a news release. He earned a master's in mathematical science from the Colorado School of Mines.

"His knowledge and extensive actuarial acumen will further help position our company for profitable growth," said Kenn Allen, Ameritrust CEO and president.

Ameritrust Group, formerly Meadowbrook Insurance Group, has been in business since 1955 and is now the holding company for Fosun International Ltd., which is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The firm offers specialty insurance products and owns several subsidiary insurance companies, including U.S. Specialty Underwriters, a wholesale agency that provides excess workers’ compensation.
