Energy Company Fined $58,025 for Explosion

California workplace safety regulators fined Quantum Energy Storage Corp. $58,025 for a failure to follow safe machine operating standards that resulted in an explosion, injuring four workers. Cal-OSHA said a 7-foot, 11,000-pound metal flywheel used to test the energy storage system at Quantum's warehouse in Poway came loose from its moorings on June 10.
