Federal prosecutors in Los Angeles announced that disbarred personal injury lawyer Tom Girardi was sentenced to 87 months in prison for embezzling tens of millions of settlement money from clients.
Girardi was also ordered to pay $2.3 million in restitution and a $35,000 fine. He was ordered to surrender to federal authorities to start serving his sentence July 17.
A jury in August 2024 found Girardi guilty of four counts of wire fraud.
