Most of the U.S. workers’ compensation market is written by carriers that specialize in the line, up from slightly more than a third in 2010, according to a new report by A.M. Best.
A.M. Best said that in 2017, 55.9% of U.S. workers’ compensation net premiums were earned by “specialist carriers” that take more than half of their premiums through workers’ compensation and excess workers’ comp. The ratings house calls that segment the Workers’ Compensation Composite, or WCC, and uses it to gauge the health of the segment.
