Attorneys for Fresno County, California, are arguing that a group of inmates who were injured while assigned to a work detail should receive workers’ compensation benefits, and the media should be barred from covering any hearings related to the claims.
Meanwhile, lawyers who are representing the nine inmates who survived a 2015 explosion in Fresno, and the family of the inmate who died, say their clients want nothing to do with the workers’ compensation system. And they say they have no complaints about allowing the media to attend and report on hearings.
