The Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation temporarily waived the prior authorization requirement for initial and follow-up telemedicine visits for physical therapy and occupational therapy.
The division issued an interpretative bulletin explaining that its rules define telemedicine as a two-way, real-time, interactive communication between an injured worker and a provider at a separate site. Providers are responsible for complying with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA.
