Workers’ compensation rates in Washington state would increase 3.1% next year under a proposal the Department of Labor & Industries announced Tuesday.
If approved, the average net rate per $100 of payroll in 2022 would be $1.53, the department said. Workers will continue to pay, on average, about a quarter of the premium.
“The proposed 3.1% overall average rate increase is driven by cost-of-living adjustments for pensions, which were triggered by an increase in the state’s average wage,” the department said in a statement.
