$1.8 Million in Penalties Largest Since Start of Profile Audit Process

Poor performance at a handful of shops handling California workers' compesnation claims resulted in the largest penalty assessment since the Profile Audit Review process started more than a decade ago. The Division of Workers' Compensation fined seven claims shops a total of $1.795 million in 2014, according to an audit report released Jan. 26.  Total penalties have exceeded $1 million only twice – $1.206 million in 2009 and $1.252 million in 2005 – since the Profile Audit Review, or PAR, process mandated by Assembly Bill 749 went into effect in 2003.
