A series of disease outbreaks in the Los Angeles Police Department has city officials watching for potential workers’ comp impacts, while LAPD is taking steps to curb the problem — including the purchase of a germ-zapping robot.
The robot, which LAPD unveiled during a press conference at the Central Division station on Friday, emits ultraviolet lights to kill germs in the air and on surfaces, according to news reports. The robot reportedly cost $110,000.
