OSHA Cites Contractor on High School Project for Dangerous Trench

Acting on a tip, federal work safety inspectors visited a suburban New Jersey high school this summer only to find contractors working in an unprotected 10-foot trench on what was to become a new tennis court.  Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspectors issued nine citations and a fine of $197,752 to The LandTek Group Inc., one of the mid-Atlantic region's largest general contractors, last month.  Verona High School brought in LandTek last year to construct new tennis courts and synthetic turf fields on its Verona, New Jersey, campus.
