Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) has signed House Bill 1083 by Rep. Steve Pylant, R-Winnsboro, relating to workers' compensation benefits and medical expenses for incarcerated employees.Existing law provided that an injured employee has no right to workers' compensation benefits during incarceration but allows the injured employee to resume collection of compensation upon release.The legislation provides that the prohibition on collecting benefits does apply to medical expenses incurred when an employee has been assigned to a work release or a transitional work program and is injured du...
