A federal jury in Tennessee convicted five people of defrauding private and government insurance programs of more than $30 million with a compound drug scheme.
“The scheme involved sham prescriptions for compounded creams and medications, oftentimes issued without the supposed patient even knowing about them, and were frequently signed by a health care provider who never met the patient,” prosecutors said in a statement.
