The New York State Workers’ Compensation Board announced that the maximum weekly benefit rate for compensable lost-time claims will increase 5.9% for injuries occurring on or after July 1.
The U.S. Department of Labor reports that the state’s average weekly wage increased to $1,688.19 for 2021 from $1,594.57 for 2020.
Maximum comp benefits are two-thirds of the average weekly wage from the previous calendar year.
As a result, the maximum weekly compensation rate will increase to $1,125.46 from $1,063.05, the WCB said.
