Maximum Benefit Increasing 5.9%

The New York State Workers’ Compensation Board announced that the maximum weekly benefit rate for compensable lost-time claims will increase 5.9% for injuries occurring on or after July 1. The U.S. Department of Labor reports that the state’s average weekly wage increased to $1,688.19 for 2021 from $1,594.57 for 2020. Maximum comp benefits are two-thirds of the average weekly wage from the previous calendar year.
