Jury Orders Carrier to Pay $4.2M for Failure to Cover Injury Claim

A Nueces County, Texas jury handed down a $4.2 million verdict on Friday in favor of the San Luis Mexican Restaurant in Corpus Christi, attorney Bob Hilliard announced.The jury found that Illinois-based Evanston Insurance Co. was grossly negligent in its failure to insure the restaurant and its owner, Maria Pineda, for a covered claim, Hilliard said in a press release.In July 2002, an off-duty employee slipped and fell while leaving the restaurant, severely injuring her arm.
