Gov. Pat Quinn signed a bill granting the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission authority to assign interpreters to settlement talks with unrepresented claimants. The governor signed House Bill 3390 into law last week, which made several changes to the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission. Rep. Elgie Sims, Jr., D-Chicago, introduced the bill, which is now known as Public Act 98-40. The bill became effective on June 28.
