Lawmakers Want Newsom, Legislative Leaders to Reopen Capitol by Wednesday

Gov. Gavin Newsom and California legislative leaders should reopen the State Capitol to the public next week because of loosened COVID-19 safety guidelines, a coalition of state lawmakers said. According to The Sacramento Bee, the bipartisan group wrote a letter to Senate President Pro Tem Toni Atkins, D-San Diego; Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, D-Lakewood; and Newsom, asking them to allow more public access to the building by Wednesday.
