California lawmakers on Wednesday asked the state auditor to investigate the dwindling number of qualified medical evaluators participating in the workers’ compensation system, and develop recommendations to ensure a sufficient number of doctors are available to evaluate disabilities and write medical-legal reports.
At the same time, the Joint Legislative Audit Committee approved a request to have the auditor review the administration of comp claims filed by workers at four state agencies to ensure the cases are handled efficiently.
