Hospital Fee Schedule Shows Sharp Increase for Some Procedures

The Maine Workers' Compensation Board has updated its hospital fee schedules and COVID-19 procedure codes, the board said in bulletins. The hospital inpatient facility fee schedule and appendix, available on the board's website, has been revised for dates of discharge after Oct. 1, 2020. It appears to show modest to significant increases in reimbursement over the previous schedule, adopted in 2018. The fee for treatment of a spinal injury, Diagnostic Related Group code 052, for example, has risen from $13,907 to $20,520 for acute-care hospitals. A spinal fusion procedure, DRG code 47...
