A juvenile-detention officer has been charged with fraud and larceny after authorities said he was seen coaching youth football while he claimed to be disabled from a work incident.
Gregory Brunson, 35, of East Haven, Connecticut, claimed temporary total disability in August 2019 after he injured his back attempting to restrain a juvenile detainee, according to the New Haven Register.
But officials said Brunson was later observed engaging in strenuous activity and coaching a youth team that traveled to Florida for a tournament. He collected almost $12,500 in TTD benefits after his injury claim.
He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 29.
