As the U.S. labor market tightens, small businesses might gain an advantage in recruiting employees by spotlighting their safety records, according to results of a new survey.
The survey, sponsored by workers’ comp insurer Employers, found that the safety of the work environment was among the top factors employees consider when evaluating a job offer. Safety ranked behind compensation, the nature of the work and proximity to home, but ahead of factors such as the quality of potential coworkers and opportunities for professional growth.
