Correctional officers in Baltimore would be eligible for enhanced benefits available to other public safety workers in Maryland under a bill introduced ahead of the 2021 legislative session. Maryland law declares that permanent partial disability benefits for workers awarded fewer than 75 weeks of compensation shall be equal to one-third of the worker’s average weekly wage and not exceed 16.7% of the state’s average weekly wage.
