Over the past six decades, workers’ compensation claim frequency has “decreased modestly” during times of economic recession, according to a new study by the Workers’ Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau.
WCIRB looked at data between 1961 and 2017, finding that overall claim frequency fell more during recession years than in times of economic expansion. The rate of cumulative trauma claims, however, increased during times of economic downturn, according to the study.
