While denying a claimant's challenge to the basis of the attorney's fee awarded in his case, the 1st District Florida Court of Appeal recalculated a lower court's arithmetic.The appellate court ruled that Compensations Claims Judge Joseph Murphy had correctly interpreted Section 440.34(1) of the Florida Statutes, which allows attorney's fees based on an undefined percentage of the "benefits secured" for the client.
