The Washington state Department of Labor & Industries will pay for fecal microbiota transplantation after adopting the state Health Technology Clinical Committee’s determination that it should be covered.
Fecal microbiota transplantation is a procedure in which donor fecal matter is placed into a patient’s gastrointestinal system to recolonize with normal gut bacteria that have been killed or suppressed, the health committee’s website says.
