A Southern California insurance agent surrendered at the Los Angeles County Superior Court after being charged with four counts of grand theft for allegedly pocketing premiums that small-business owners paid for workers’ compensation and liability coverage.
The Department of Insurance said Francis Okyere, 67, is accused of stealing $65,456 in premiums from four business owners between July 2015 and September 2016. The action left the businesses uninsured against liability and comp claims, the department said.
Okyere will be arraigned July 11.
