A Boston police officer accused of exaggerating his injuries to collect occupational disability benefits was charged Tuesday with 34 counts of mail fraud based in part on a trip he took to Vietnam in May 2008.U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz said Eliezer Gonzalez, 48, is accused of defrauding the city of Boston and a private supplemental insurer based on an injury he sustained in September 2007.Prosecutors said Gonzalez immediately began receiving tax-free injury pay following the injury.
