Florida-based carrier Normandy Insurance Co. will be allowed to serve the Arkansas workers' compensation market, Arkansas' insurance commissioner announced this week.
Normandy, based in Deerfield Beach, Florida, specializes in workers' compensation coverage for medical facilities and small and medium-sized business, and is a subsidiary of Normandy Insurance Holding Co., Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Allen Kerr said in a news release.
Normandy also recently expanded into Georgia, has operations in Virginia and Pennsylvania, and has plans to move into other states, officials said.
The company was licensed in Florida as a monoline carrier in 2007. Demotech Inc. gives it a financial stability rating of A, and notes that the company had net written premiums of more than $41 million in 2017.
Arkansas also approved the entry of two other Florida insurance companies into Arkansas. They are Vault Reciprocal Exchange, a property and casualty and marine insurer, and Tower Hill Prime Insurance, a homeowners' and commercial property insurer, which mark the 74th and 75th new insurance carriers in the state in the last three years, Kerr said.
