OSHA Proposing $51,800 in Fines against Plastic Recycler

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is proposing penalties of $51,800 against a Cleveland plastics recycler after it found 13 safety violations.OSHA said it found a lack of training and personal protective equipment at New Wave Plastics after an inspection initiated by a complaint received in November 2013.Twelve serious violations involve failing to train workers about wearing personal protective equipment, hazards associated with the use of chemicals in the work environment, forklift safety and fire extinguishers and failure to provide fire-retardant clothing, OSHA said.
