The California Workers’ Compensation Institute, in a new study exploring changes in utilization and reimbursement of medical services from 2013 to 2018, reports an overall 20.4% decline in aggregate payments during that period.
CWCI also reports a 28.4% decline in service counts and a 5.2% reduction in claim volume over the study period, including the last year under the old medical fee schedule, the four-year transition period to the Resource-Based Relative Value Scale schedule mandated by SB 863, and the first year under the full RBRVS fee schedule.
