High Court Reduces Liability for Members of Self-Insurance Plan

New York's highest court ruled that the liability of municipalities that wished to withdraw from a county's self-insurance fund needed to be discounted to the value of that liability as of the date that they withdrew. Case: Village of Ilion v. County of Herkimer, No. 80, 05/01/2014, published. Facts: Herkimer County created a self-insurance plan for itself in 1956.
