Global Chemical Manufacturer's Westlake Plant Fined $92K for Leaky Tank, Other Issues

Federal occupational health inspectors fined a Louisiana chemical manufacturer more than $92,000 for failing to inspect safety valves, not maintaining stairwells, exposing workers to corrosive materials and a leaking, 30,000-gallon hot water tank. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited PPG Industries of Westlake last week for violations of federal work safety protocol found during an April inspection.
