A COVID-19 presumption for essential workers saw a flicker of life in the Florida Legislature this week, but the proposal has been withdrawn, at least for now.
The Senate Judiciary Committee, meeting ahead of the legislative session that begins March 2, voted to approve Senate Bill 72, which aims to protect businesses from liability lawsuits resulting from COVID illnesses or deaths. The measure is similar to HB 7, which passed a House committee earlier in January.
