Despite identifying asbestos hazards in 2008, a Wisconsin medical clinic did not tell maintenance workers, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration said.
OSHA fined The Monroe Clinic Inc. $261,890 for 12 violations of federal work safety standards found during a June inspection, the agency announced Tuesday.
Inspectors found that maintenance workers had disturbed asbestos while completing repair and installation work.
They should have been given protective equipment and a head's up that the asbestos was there, but managers did not provide either, inspectors said.
