In the last five years, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has vetoed three bills that would have allowed acupuncturists to treat injured workers.
But when a similar provision was inserted into the 419-page state budget bill this year, Cuomo approved the plan, paving the way for what some are calling a new era in the treatment of injured workers.
“The law is expected to bring thousands of new providers into the system, dramatically improving access to health care for injured workers,” the state Workers' Compensation Board said in a bulletin posted this week.
