A Louisiana postal worker was charged with making false statements for allegedly submitting travel reimbursements for trips that were never taken in connection with a workers' comp claim, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana said.
Lexy Lopez-Bateman of Slidell suffered an on-the-job injury in 2015 and was entitled to the cost of travel to and from medical appointments. Investigators say she submitted fraudulent requests from 2015 through June 2017, defrauding the Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs out of $16,851.10.
