Unlicensed Agent Pleads Guilty to Diverting Premiums for Personal Use

The Monterey County District Attorney's Office announced that an unlicensed insurance agent who pocketed premiums for workers' compensation and auto policies sold in California pleaded guilty to two counts of theft of funds and one count of identity theft. Ernie Morris, 45, of Marina, used his partner's license to sell insurance policies for which he failed to remit premium payments to the insurance companies.
