Lake County, Illinois, is on pace to save $4.2 million this year, its first as a member of a new network for its workers’ compensation and health self-insurance pool.
Through the end of September, the county has already saved $3 million, according to a report in the Post-Tribune newspaper. The county’s insurance administrator, Professional Claims Management Inc., said the savings are the result of a switch to Cigna, a larger self-insurance network that can offer greater payment discounts than the one previously used.
