Two Shops Drive 79% Increase in 2013 Audit Penalties

The Division of Workers' Compensation assessed audit penalties on two shops processing California claims in 2013 compared to five in 2012, but the total penalty amount increased 79% to $391,606 from $218,769, according to an audit report released Wednesday. Acclamation Insurance Management Services in Santa Clarita was assessed $252,514 in penalties after DWC auditors found unpaid compensation of $41,428 on 18 claims.
