Lake County workers who suffer simple strains, animal bites or stings or are exposed to poison oak can call a telephone triage nurse who will offer advice on how to self-treat under a new program unanimously approved by county supervisors last month.
The goal of the program is to reduce the number of first aid claims that end up with an office visit, the Lake County Record-Bee reports. The nurse can discuss the worker's condition and determine what medical treatment is appropriate and necessary.
