The Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Commission has set the Multiple Injury Trust Fund assessment at 6%, effective July 1. The rate is unchanged from the current level and is at the maximum allowed by statute.
The trust fund pays benefits for workers who have previously been awarded benefits for a permanent disability rated at more than 40%.
According to a report by the commission last year, more than 90% of Oklahoma permanent total disability claims are paid by the MITF. The fund had a deficit of $397 million in 2015.
