A city in Southern California’s Inland Empire has opted to self-insure for workers’ compensation claims, according to local media reports.
The Hemet City Council voted May 26 to pay up to a $250,000 deductible per occurrence based on the city’s previous experience of handling low claims volumes, according to Valley News.
The high-deductible option was among those presented to city leaders by the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority.
