The Washington state Department of Labor and Industries fined an assisted living care facility $102,060 for continuing to expose workers to excessive and repetitive lifting.
Workers at the Columbia Heights Retirement and Assisted Living home in Wenatchee had to manually lift patients, which has resulted in numerous sprain and strain injuries at the facility in recent years, according to L&I. The department said in a statement that one of the reasons the fine is so large is because Columbia Heights has not corrected violations that were cited following an inspection in May.
