The percentage of workers’ compensation patients undergoing lumbar spine surgery who needed reoperation or readmission within one to three months following the procedure is higher than what’s reported for non-work comp patients, according to a new study from WCRI.
The Workers Compensation Research Institute reports that 7% of comp patients who had lumbar spine surgery needed a second operation within 30 to 90 days following the first procedure. And 8% of comp patients were readmitted in that one- to three-month period post-surgery.
